Ben Nevis Guided Walk
Tackle the UK’s highest summit, Ben Nevis. At 1344 metres above sea level and a 16km walk to the top and back, this is a truly rewarding and memorable day. Continue reading below for more information about the route and how to book.
This is the most popular way up Ben Nevis, however, it is not to be underestimated. The mountain environment is changeable and quite often it can be a lovely warm day at the bottom and snowing at the top. This route will take a whole day, so you must be prepared for spending it on the mountain. For most people, reaching the summit is realistic but to do this you must have a reasonable level of fitness.
The walk starts at the Glen Nevis visitor centre and the first section winds up onto the lower slopes of the Ben. Amazing views of Glen Nevis quickly come into view, with views of the surrounding mountains gradually revealing themselves too. There are a few rocky and steep sections before we reach Lochan Meall An T-Suidhe, a small loch (or lochan). Shortly after the lochan is behind you, we reach the halfway point of the ascent - The Red Burn, a great place to fill up your water bottle. The ascent continues as we zig-zag up the slope, eventually reaching the summit of Ben Nevis. There are the remnants of an old weather station here, as well as the huge cairn marking the top of the mountain.
You’ll leave this walk with a real sense of achievement - you’ll have just climbed the highest mountain in the UK!
