Eastern Mamores Guided Walk
This route takes in two of the Munros in the Mamores range around Kinlochleven. Offering fantastic views of the surrounding glens, this is a great route with views of some of Scotland’s most iconic mountains.
Starting at Kinlochleven, we take the path up through some beautiful ancient woodland. This route is a scenic one from the start, as within the first few hundred metres we pass the Grey Mare’s Tail waterfall. The first section through the forest is steep at times, but after we emerge from the woods and approach Loch Eilde Mor, the slopes ease off a little, with the first munro of the day just coming into view. Skirting around Sgurr Eilde Beag, we make the ascent up to the first munro of the day, Sgurr Eilde Mor at 1010 metres. Retracing our steps, we then make the descent through the picturesque Coire a’Bhinnein, a huge corrie that was carved out by glaciers thousands of years ago.
The second Munro of the day, Binnein Beag, is then reached and the views from here are incredible. Ben Nevis, The Grey Corries and Bennein Mor all offer great views. We’ll return the same way we walked in, with great views of Loch Leven before we descend back into the deciduous woodland.
This is a long day, totalling 20km. A good level of fitness is required for this walk, and it can take up to 11.5 hours. The ascents to the munro tops go over some scree (loose rocks) which can be difficult to walk up. There are other sections that are quite boggy, so good waterproof boots will help keep your feet dry on this route.
It is worth the hard work - the views are incredible and this route offers a quieter walk than some of the busier and more frequently visited hills nearby. Click the button below to book now.
